Are you coming to Mallorca(Majorca)? Are you looking for a Mallorca Travel guide & tips to plan your perfect Mallorca Holiday? I think Mallorca is a little paradise in Europe. It is a beautiful island in Spain near Barcelona and its neighboring popular party island Ibiza. It takes only 30 minutes to come to Palma de Mallorca by airplane from Barcelona. It has full of beautiful Palm Trees, crystal clear sea like Calo des Moro, lovely villages like Valldemossa, ports with stunning views like Port De Soller and Andratx. I fell in love with Mallorca from my first visit to Mallorca back in 2016 summer.
That is why I came back in the following year, and I’m living in Mallorca now. Here is the information you will need to know before planning your travel to Mallorca from my personal experience so far living and traveling in Mallorca since 2016. I hope my Mallorca travel guide & tips help you to understand better about Mallorca and choose the best place for your Mallorca holiday!
When is a good time to travel to Palma de Mallorca(Weather in Mallorca)
Mallorca has good weather all year. It has four seasons but its winter is pretty mild. For this reason, it is good to visit Mallorca all year but I recommend coming to Mallorca from May to October if you want to enjoy the strong sun and beach time. Also, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere of Mallorca during this time. If you are planning to travel to Mallorca in March, April, November, and December, that is still okay because it is pretty warm compared to other European countries. The temperature during the day goes up to 20 degrees during that time.
*Some resorts, hotels, bars, and restaurants close in some areas in Mallorca like Can Picafort, Magaluf(English zone in Mallorca), Arenal(German zone in Mallorca) but the shops, bars, restaurants in the center of Palma is opened even in low season.
How to get to Mallorca by Plane and Boat
You can simply come to Mallorca by Plane from where you are or you can come to Mallorca by boat from Barcelona or neighboring islands like Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentor. From Barcelona port to Mallorca, the fastest boat will take 5 hours and the longest boat will take 7 hours and a half. The price will be varied depending on the period of time you are visiting. You can take a seat or book a cabin. Also, you can take a car with you to Mallorca. Mallorca Travel guide on how to plan your Mallorca trip
Things to consider before your travel to Mallorca
Mallorca seems small but it is bigger than you think. To plan your trip to Mallorca, you need to think about which side of the island you should visit because it takes a long time to move from one side to the other side of the island.
Palma de Mallorca
In the south of the island, there is the airport of Palma de Mallorca. In the center of Palma, you can visit the famous Cathedral de Mallorca, beautiful Palma Old Town, lots of places for shopping, lots of bars and restaurants that you can enjoy. Also, Palma is a great place to enjoy the nightlife as well.
The South East and East Part of Mallorca
In the Southeast and East part of the island, you can visit beaches like Calo D’es Moro, Cala Blava, Cala Figuera, Cala Pi, Cala Mondrago, Sa Rapita, Es Trenc, and more. I personally really like the south of the beaches like Cala Mayor, Cala Mondrago and Cala Blava. Also, you can take a look at google maps to see which beach you can go depending on your preference.
The West of Mallorca
The west of Mallorca also has lots of great beaches. Andratx is a very popular destination for holidaymakers. It has lots of bars and restaurants right in front of the sea. You can visit a famous place like Port de Soller and Valldemossa. I love Port de Soller and Valldemossa for many reasons, but I love them because they are simply so beautiful.
The North of Mallorca
There is a lot to see in the north of Mallorca. The beaches in Can Picafort and Alcudia are so beautiful. For that reason, Can Picafort and Alcudia are always full of tourists in the high season especially from June till August. If you want to visit the beaches in Can Picafort and Alcudia(Playa de Muro), you’d better come from May till September or October. Because most of the restaurants, bars, hotels close from November to April just like Magaluf which is a famous party town for the English. Alcudia Old Town is also worthy of visiting to take a look at the old ruins there. Formentor is also a popular place to visit if you want a bit relaxed beach and Mirador es Colomer is a viewpoint I recommend visiting!
The center of Mallorca
There are lots of villages like Llubi, Maria de Salut, Inca, Sa Pobla, and Sineu if you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy a relaxing holiday. It will give you a chance to get to know real Mallorca. In Sineu, there is Sineu Wednesday Market that you should visit to have an authentic market experience in Mallorca.

Which part of Mallorca you should stay
Mallorca is so beautiful everywhere so I’m sure that it will be so hard for you to choose which part of the island! I can tell you that it is all up to you! It all depends on what you are looking for on your holiday. Do you want to stay all day on the beach and get hot kisses from the sun? Do you want to explore major tourist attractions and enjoy nightlife? Or do you want to enjoy a quiet and peaceful holiday in Mallorca?
If you are a beach lover, I recommend spending time in the south, south-east, west, and north part of Mallorca. If you are a short time visitor, it’s better to stay in Palma. If you want to have a truly relaxing holiday without crowds, to be connected to nature and local culture of Mallorca, it is the best to stay in the center of Mallorca like Llubi, Sineu, and Muro.
How to get to the center of Palma de Mallorca from the airport
When you get out of the arrival point, you can take the Number 1 bus to come straight to the center of Palma de Mallorca(Plaza Espana). It costs 5 euros for a one-way trip. It takes about 20 minutes or more depending on the traffic.
It will cost about 25 euros to get to the center of Palma de Mallorca from the airport if there is no traffic.
The best way to get around Mallorca
As I talked earlier, Mallorca is quite big. There are buses to go to major touristic areas from the center of Mallorca, so it is doable if you want to travel around Mallorca with a bus. But renting a car is super cheap and it is much easier to get around Mallorca in a car. You don’t have to wait for an hour or more to get a bus from one place to another. You can visit many different places depending on your own schedule. I highly recommend renting a car to travel better in Mallorca.

Driving in Mallorca
Driving in Mallorca can be a bit tricky if you are not a well-trained driver since some roads are quite narrow and winding. The best way is not to drive to fast and not to overtake a car if you want to avoid a car accident on your holiday. Also, be aware of cyclists while driving especially when you travel to Mallorca in March, April, May, June, September, and October(Cycling seasons here).
Where to stay in Mallorca
In Mallorca, there are many options to choose from when it comes to accommodation. You can stay in big hotels like Melia, Iberostar, and small boutique hotels, Hostels, and holiday houses. In Major tourist areas along the seashore, there are lots of big hotels. They are easy to access and convenient.
But if you are planning to come to Mallorca for more than 1 week, the cost of staying at a hotel will add up. In this case, I recommend booking a holiday house where you can make yourself home here in Mallorca. You can rent out for your family and friends at a reasonable price compared to big hotels. Many Mallorca Holiday houses have beautiful gardens, a private swimming pool, fully equipped kitchen to make your stay easy and comfortable to offer you a bit of Mallorcan local lifestyle.
